Installation/Upgrade

As of June 2020, the migration process can be performed from M2E Pro v6.6.0 on Magento v1.x to M2E Pro v1.6.0 on Magento v2.x.

Start the migration only after you successfully install both required Module versions. Once you confirm the migration running, your Module on Magento v1.x will be put under maintenance and the process cannot be rolled back.

Recommended! Two days before the migration, please disable automatic List/Relist Rules in Synchronization Policy(-ies) and do not run the List/Relist actions manually. It will let the system complete the processing of all scheduled List/Relist actions and prevent data loss. Information about the Item List/Relist which is scheduled right before the migration will be skipped. Check this article to learn which M2E Pro data will be preserved during the migration.

Some features are temporarily unavailable in M2E Pro Magento v2. More details can be found in our Migration Notes.

This article describes the overall preparation and execution of the data migration from Magento v1.x to Magento v2.x. Please note that the process requires technical skills. You can consult your developers on any issue that you face.

Preliminary requirements

1. Install the minimum supported Module version for the data migration:

2. Transfer your Magento database from v1.x to v2.x.

Note

If you use the Magento Data Migration Tool to migrate your Magento database, you must add to 'ignore' all M2E Pro tables (the table names contain 'm2epro_') navigating by the pattern:

%magento2_installation_directory%/vendor/magento/data-migration-tool/etc/%from_edition%_to_%to_edition%/%source_magento_version%/map.xml .

Please find the example below:

<map xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xs:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="../../map.xsd">
    <source>
        <document_rules>
            <ignore>
                <document>m2epro_account</document>
            </ignore>
            ...
        </document_rules>
        ...
    </source>

    <destination>
        <document_rules>
            <ignore>
                <document>m2epro_account</document>
            </ignore>
            ...
        </document_rules>
        ...
    </destination>

The full list of ignoring tags for both <source>  and <destination> you can download from the links below:

Once it is done, you can start migrating your M2E Pro database. Read the details below.

Steps to proceed

M2E Pro Migration Tool will help you to transfer your Module database. Follow the Migration Wizard hints to complete the process.

Step 1 Disable Modules

In your Magento v2.x, navigate to Stores > Configuration > Multi Channels > Advanced Settings and press Proceed.

Important note

Once you confirm the migration running, the process cannot be rolled back.

You will be redirected to the 1st Wizard Step:

Please go back to Magento v1.x: System > Configuration > M2E Pro > Advanced > Migration to Magento v2.x and press Proceed. It will stop the dynamic Cron tasks, put M2E Pro under maintenance and prepare its database for the migration. Please wait for at least 15 minutes until the process is fully completed.

Important note

Once you confirm the migration running, the process cannot be rolled back.

In Magento v2.x Migration Wizard, press Continue. It will stop the dynamic Cron tasks, put M2E Pro under maintenance and clear its database before the migration. When the process is completed, you will be redirected to the 2nd Migration Wizard step.

Step 2 Database Migration

On the 2nd Wizard step, you need to export all M2E Pro tables from your MySQL database of Magento v1.x.

Please go to Magento v1.x to create a dump of all the tables with m2epro_ prefix including both the structure and data. It can be done using the mysqldump utility or phpMyAdmin options.

Important note

All existing m2epro table names must not be changed. If you've added custom prefixes to m2epro table names in the Magento 1.x database, e.g. myprefix_m2epro_ , preserve them during the dump creation.

After you create the dump, import it into the MySQL database of Magento v2.x, then click Continue. M2E Pro will automatically validate and adapt the migrated data to the Magento v2.x environment.

Once the process is completed, you will be redirected to the 3rd Migration Wizard step.

Note

The step is rather time-consuming. If you are logged out from Magento, please log in and go to Stores > Configuration > Multi Channels > Migration from Magento v1.x to get back to the Migration Wizard.

Step 3 Marketplace Synchronization

On the 3rd Wizard Step, the marketplace data will be synchronized automatically. Once the process is completed, you can proceed to the 4th Step.

Step 4 Congratulation

 It is the final Wizard Step. Please click Complete. It will disable the maintenance mode and resume the automatic synchronization. M2E Pro will become ready to use in Magento v2.x environment.
